Mark S. Hankins is a practicing attorney residing in Land O Lakes, Florida. As a collector for the Florida Department of Transportation, he reviewed and pursued claims against thousands of Floridians who damaged state property in traffic accidents. In private practice he has represented injured individuals, corporations seeking to collect from customers, and individuals with credit and debt problems. His fourteen year old business, Florida Incorporators, Inc. has created thousands of Florida businesses.
In 2003, a business he was involved with began to falter, and he realized that its failure could have dire financial consequences for him. In the course of researching his own options, he discovered online communities where ordinary Americans were solving their own problems. Ultimately he solved several debt problems related to the failure of the business and others occasioned by family medical situations using legitimate but little-known techniques.
Since 2003 he has continued to participate actively in several online communities devoted to credit and debt issues and his new book Debt Hope: Down and Dirty Survival Strategies represents a marshalling of the experiences and observations not only of himself but of thousands of individuals throughout the U.S. with the respect to the mysterious inner workings of the collections industry.
